Born in Singapore, Ng Eng Thong began taking violin lessions from his father and piano lessons from Francis Khoo. In 1989, he was engaged at Raffles Girls School as violin teacher and an active player of Lasalle Music School’s string ensemble. He attended the Unversity of Western Australia in 1990 to further study the violin and piano. During the same year; he won a string quartedt competition and many other competitions as well.During his time in UWA, he studied music composition and after graduation, composed his frist song ‘问为何‘.He then also composed many other songs of various genres, such as ‘Remember’, children songs and string ensemble pieces) among others. He currently focuses mainly on teaching the violin and piano at his own music school, Ricco Music and Art Centre, and is also the treasurer of the Association of Composers (Singapore) and the Musicians Society of Singapore.
