Stella Zhou The Taste of Memories


Soprano Stella Zhou FLCM

Stella graduated with distinction from Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts in 1990. She emerged top both Hong Kong Classical Song Competition and the Asia Professional Competition (representing Hong Kong) in 1990. She is also two times winner at Shenzhen Art Song Competitions. In 2005 she was awarded Gold medal at the North Korea International Spring Festival representing Singapore for her excellent solo performance. In 2007 she received her Fellowship (FLCM) from London College of Music. Her operatic list of accomplishments includes Rose Linda in Die Fledemaus, Musetta in La Boheme, Violetta in La Traviata, Gilda in Gigoletto, Jezreel in Bunga Mawar, the Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansal and Gretel, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, Shen Ling in Serenade etc. and has been invited to perform with Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Asia Opera House of South Korea, Singapore Lyric Opera, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Kuala Lumpur Symphony Orchestra, Penang Arts Council, Singapore Chinese Orchestra etc. in numerous concerts. She is an active performer at more than 50 cites in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, North and South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Uganda, Kenya, Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Brazil, USA etc.

Stella has been the vocal teacher for both LaSalle College of Arts (2000-now) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts(1992-2004) in Singapore for the last two decades. Since 1999 she is the Music Director for the Society of Charis Singers, Singapore and produces more than 250 concerts. She was also the Artistic Director of the School of Christian Performing Arts, Melbourne from 2004-2006. She is also one of the Board Directors of the Musicians Society, Singapore, and has been invited to sit in the panel of Judges for many International and Regional Music Competitions.
